This site honors the 50th anniversary of March 1968 by relating for the first time in English translation the stories of many individuals whose lives were changed forever as a result of the March 1968 civil unrest and the anti-Semitic campaign launched by Poland's Communist authorities. The stories translated here are oral histories collected by the famous Polish Journalist Teresa Toranska, and published 10 years ago in her book "Jestesmy" ("We Are Here") for the 40th Anniversary of the March '68 Events.
"We Are Here" presents for the first time in English the oral histories compiled by legendary Polish journalist Teresa Toranska in one of her final books. That book, Jestesmy ("We Are Here"), was published in 2008 for the 40th Anniversary of the March 1968 events. Now, on the 50th Anniversary, these stories are being published as a tribute to Toranska's journalism and in honor of all those who shared their experiences in order to help others learn and understand.
